Once you have invited the bot and given it permissions, simply use /alerts set-thread or
/alerts set-channel followed by the designated thread or channel where the donkey will hee
and haw. You should then do /settings steam-region and /settings timezone.
Once you have all that set up, you are basically ready to add items to your wishlist using
/wishlist add <steamurlofgame>.
How do I add DiscountDonkey to my server?
Use the invite button on the home page, choose your server, and approve the requested permissions.
Does DiscountDonkey need administrator permissions?
No. It needs View Channels, Send Messages, Send Messages in Threads, and Use Slash Commands.
What does DiscountDonkey track?
Each Discord server gets one shared Steam deal wishlist. Members can add games, list tracked games,
remove individual games, or clear the wishlist.
Where are sale alerts posted?
Server staff choose one existing text channel, existing thread, or existing forum post with the alerts
commands. DiscountDonkey never creates channels, threads, or forum posts.
When does DiscountDonkey check for deals?
DiscountDonkey scans once per day at midnight using the timezone configured for that Discord server.
How many alert messages are posted?
DiscountDonkey posts one alert message for each newly detected discounted game on the server wishlist.
Can different servers use different settings?
Yes. DiscountDonkey is multi-server, so each Discord server has its own wishlist, alert destination,
timezone, and Steam region.
Which Steam prices does it use?
Prices are checked using the Steam region configured with /settings steam-region.
Can I test the alert destination?
Yes. Use /alerts test after setting a channel or thread to confirm alerts can be posted.
